Football betting can seem seriously confusing at first – where to start and how does everything work, how to bet on football? However, reading a beginner’s guide in order to learn the basics of football betting is guaranteed to make the whole processeasier for you. Remember – not knowing the basics can cost you not only your time but your money as well!
So, where to start?
First of all, determine your stake – that’s the amount of money you are betting or in other words, the money you’re willing to lose if things go wrong. Start out with a lower amount and slowly increase it as you get more confident.
After you’ve set out your stake, you need to choose what type of abet you’ll do. Each bet can be made either in a group or by itself; the group bets are called accumulators –if you group five matches together, all five need to be winning in order for you to win the bet. The singles are the bets you do by match – the chances of winning are higher here but the amount of money you might receive is lower.
You can choose from a variety of bets, each with a set of different winning criteria. In order to get a better grasp of the whole betting terminology, here are some of the most common bets:
- A spread bet, where the team you’ve bet on needs to win for a certain number of points stated on the betting board. For instance, if it says -2, that team needs to win by more than 2 points in order for you to win.
- A money line, or more of a straight bet, where it’s important which team wins the game and not by how much. The lower the chances of a team winning, the more you can earn.
- A totalor an over/under bet, where the bets are made on the fact whether the score in total will exceed a certain number posted on the board.
- Parlays and teasers, or group bets, where you need to bet on at least 2 teams; however, even if one team loses, you lose the whole bet.
See, it’s not that hard, is it?
Of course, these are only the basics – the more you bet, the more familiar you’ll get with certain aspects. Remember to take the time to read and make yourself comfortable with the whole process. Betting can be a thrilling source of fun for all of those risk-takers out there if you know how to do it right!
